The 2017 Skills Challenge will be held on November 16 as a workforce development event involving Richmond County School System students from Hephziabh High and T.W. Josey High. The Junior League of Augusta will be partnering with Augusta Locally Grown to present their semi-annual Kids in the Kitchen event on October 31, 2017 from 4-7 pm. This family-friendly event focuses on combating childhood obesity through educational games, hands-on cooking demonstrations, and fitness activities. The Farmers Market and Kids in the Kitchen is free to the public.
Kids in the Kitchen is part of a nation-wide educational initiative with the goal to raise awareness and help reverse the growth of childhood obesity and its associated health issues.
Garrett Elementary School will have a Red Ribbon March in recognition of Red Ribbon Week on Friday, October 27 beginning at 12:45 pm to spread a drug free message.
Augusta Regional Airporthas partnered with Augusta Aviation - Daniel Field and the Richmond County School System to hold a paper plane contest to help promote interest in Aviation. Students from Richmond County Schools, grades seventh through twelfth, have been asked to create a team to compete for prizes for the furthest distance, time aloft, and most unique. Upon graduation, the student will receive the REACH $10,000 scholarship for maintaining academic, behavioral and attendance standards to any University System of Georgia or Technical College System of Georgia school. Recipients will attend the REACH Scholar Signing on October 18 at 6 pm with their parent or guardian.
The Richmond County School System Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) Department will hold the 1st Annual RCSS CTAE Robotics Kick-off on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at A.R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet School.
